Bruce Springsteen announces 'Seeger' tour dates

Bruce Springsteen has announced dates for a US tour that will support his upcoming Pete Seeger tribute album, "We Shall Overcome: The Seeger Sessions."

The singer previously announced the tour's European itinerary, which will follow a one-off appearance April 30 in New Orleans. Following the European dates--which are posted at Springsteen's website--Springsteen and the Seeger Sessions Band will kick off the main American leg of the tour May 27 in Boston. Details are shown below.

Springsteen's band for the "Seeger Sessions" outing will include Sam Bardfeld (violin), Art Baron (tuba), Frank Bruno (guitar), Jeremy Chatzky (upright bass), Larry Eagle (drums), Clark Gayton (trombone), Charles Giordano (accordion, keyboards), Curtis King (vocals), Greg Liszt (banjo), Lisa Lowell (vocals), Eddie Manion (sax), Cindy Mizell (vocals), Curt Ramm (trumpet), Marty Rifkin (pedal steel guitar), Patti Scialfa (vocals), Mark Thompson (vocals) and Soozie Tyrell (violin).

According to Springsteen's promoter, most of the European dates sold out within minutes. "We announced Bruce Springsteen's concerts in the UK at 9 am on April 7," Harvey Goldsmith said in a press release. "By 9:10 am both shows had sold out. This is the fastest selling show ever in Manchester."

The "Seeger Sessions" disc, due in stores April 25, features Springsteen's interpretations of 13 traditional songs, all of which are associated with folk artist Pete Seeger.

The album will be issued in DualDisc format (or as a CD/DVD package in some territories), with audio content on one side and video on the other. The 13-track album will be supplemented with two bonus tracks, 30 minutes of behind-the-scenes video content, and a special booklet that includes a note from Springsteen.
