Bruce Springsteen to play benefit rehearsal shows in Asbury Park

Bruce Springsteen will perform four rehearsal shows in Asbury Park in preparation for the tour supporting his latest release, "The Seeger Sessions."

The four shows will go on sale Saturday, April 15th, and will be limited to phone orders only via local Ticketmaster charge-by-phone numbers. (Ticketmaster is LiveDaily's parent company.)

While announced as a benefit, the receiving organization was not noted in the concert announcement.

Springsteen has assembled a band for the "Seeger Sessions" tour around the folk and bluegrass feel of the material on the record. Only violinist Soozie Tyrell and Springsteen's wife Patti Scialfa are holdovers from the most recent touring edition of the E Street Band.

The album, due in stores April 25th, draws from material long-associated with Seeger, whom Springsteen has cited as a large influence on his acoustic songs. In a statement announcing the release of the album, Springsteen said, "So much of my writing, particularly when I write acoustically, comes straight out of the folk tradition. Making this album was creatively liberating because I have a love of all those different roots sounds... they can conjure up a world with just a few notes and a few words."

Springsteen's tour schedule behind the album currently involves just one U.S. date beyond the rehearsal shows, with most of May routed through Europe. Artist representatives say that U.S. dates will be revealed soon.
