
The initial itinerary has surfaced for Madonna 's summer tour behind last year's platinum-certified "Confessions on a Dance Floor."
"I'm going to turn the world into one big dance floor," Madonna said of the tour in a statement.
The veteran performer kicks things off May 21 in the Los Angeles area and is so far scheduled to makes stops at arenas in about a dozen cities, including Chicago, Boston, San Jose, the Phoenix area, Fresno, Las Vegas, Philadelphia, Atlantic City, Miami, Montreal and New York. Members of Madonna's official fan club will have access to tickets prior to the general public via an online pre-sale that begins Tuesday (4/4). More information will be posted at the tour's website.
Longtime Madonna collaborator Jamie King will direct the "Confessions Tour," and Stuart Price will again be on board as musical director, according to a press release. Arianne Phillips and Jean Paul Gaultier, long-standing members of Madonna's creative team, will respectively oversee and design costumes for the tour.
A late-summer run through Europe will follow the North American leg, the itinerary for which is posted at Madonna's website.
As previously reported, Madonna will warm up for her headlining trek with an April 30 set at this year's Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival.
Released last November, "Confessions on a Dance Floor" debuted at No. 1 on The Billboard 200 and has sold more than 1.3 million copies in the US to date, according to Warner Bros. Records. Sales have been fueled in part by the hit single "Sorry."
