Ben Harper, Damian Marley join for summer tour

Ben Harper & The Innocent Criminals have announced dates for a late summer tour, with reggae star Damian "Jr. Gong" Marley along for the ride.

Marley, who is currently in the middle of his own headlining tour, will be billed as "special guest" for the 22-night outing, which gets underway Aug. 10 in Phoenix.

Harper and his band, touring behind the recently released "Both Sides of the Gun," just finished up one mini-tour and will start another one in May, with three dates in the Pacific Northwest, as well as two April dates at Hawaii's Kokua festival.

As if they weren't busy enough, Harper and The Innocent Criminals have also firmed up dates for June tours of Japan and Europe. Harper's full overseas itinerary can be found at his website.

"Both Sides of the Gun" is Harper's seventh studio album and first since 2003's "Diamonds on the Inside." A streaming preview of the first single from the new album, "Better Way," is available on Harper's website.

In 2004, Harper collaborated on a side-project with The Blind Boys of Alabama, which resulted in an album titled "There Will Be a Light" and the 2005 concert DVD "Live at the Apollo."

Marley, son of the legendary Bob Marley, released his latest album, "Welcome to Jamrock," last September. Marley's full tour schedule can be found at his website.
