My Morning Jacket, Moe., Benevento-Russo lead Jammys noms

With three nominations each, My Morning Jacket , the Benevento-Russo Duo, and Moe. are among the top nominees for the 6th Annual Jammys awards, which will be handed out during an April 20 ceremony at New York City's Theater at Madison Square Garden.

The awards ceremony, honoring the top performers and recording artists on the jam music scene, will also serve to launch the inaugural Green Apple Music and Arts Festival, which is being billed as the biggest Earth Day Celebration in the country.

My Morning Jacket is nominated for Jammys in the Studio Album of the Year ("Z"), Song of the Year ("Off the Record") and Live Performance of the Year categories. Moe. received nods for Archival Release of the Year ("Warts and All, Volume 4"), Tour of the Year and Show of the Year. The Benevento-Russo Duo is vying for Studio Album of the Year ("Best Reason to Buy the Sun"), Song of the Year ("Becky") and Tour of the Year.

Also nominated in three categories are keyboardist John Medeski , ex-Phish bassist Mike Gordon and The North Mississippi Allstars. Two nominations apiece were garnered by Widespread Panic, Ryan Adams, Grace Potter and The Allman Brothers Band. A complete list of nominees is posted at www.jammys.com.

This year's Jammys ceremony will also feature an all-star concert. Among the acts scheduled to perform are Moe., Little Feat, Bela Fleck & The Flecktones, Joe Satriani, Blues Traveler, Peter Frampton, Richie Havens, Baaba Maal, The Mutaytor, McCoy Tyner, Savion Glover, Mad Professor, Angelique Kidjo, Steve Kimock, Stephen Perkins of Jane’s Addiction, Bettye Lavette, Guster, Martin Sexton and DJ Logic. More performers will be announced in coming weeks, according to organizers.

Trophies in nine categories--the winners of which will be determined by the votes of fans--will be awarded between the night's performances.
