Death Cab for Cutie, Franz Ferdinand team for spring tour
Fellow indie-pop bands Death Cab for Cutie and Franz Ferdinand have announced they'll be teaming up for a co-headlining tour this spring, with Franz Ferdinand supporting its sophomore release, "You Could Have It So Much Better."
The tour is slated to kick off March 22 in Portland, OR, with 22 dates announced for the outing, which will feature a mix of clubs, mid-size theaters and college campuses. Death Cab will hit several stages along the way sans Franz Ferdinand, starting with a March 26 engagement in Las Vegas.
Death Cab is still touring behind its 2005 album "Plans," which has sold more than a half-million copies in the US, according to Nielsen SoundScan. The band of late has been revealing--one at a time on it's website--videos it commissioned of all the tracks from "Plans."
A DVD containing all clips from the series, entitled "Directions," is set for an April 11 release.
Franz Ferdinand's "You Could Have It So Much Better" follows its self-titled 2004 breakthrough album. The band is currently in the midst of the multi-day, multi-city Australian Big Day Out festival, which also features, among others, The White Stripes and Iggy & The Stooges.
Death Cab for Cutie is in the middle of a slate of European shows before the band hooks up with Franz Ferdinand. The band's full itinerary is available on its website.
