Bruce Springsteen, Coldplay to perform at Grammys
The list of artists scheduled to perform at next month's 48th Annual Grammy Awards ceremony continues to grow, and now includes rock icon Bruce Springsteen and British sensation Coldplay .
Also new to the roster is country trio Sugarland , as well as Hezekia Walker & Love Fellowship Choir, who will team up with previously announced performer Mariah Carey.
Carey's pairing with Hezekia Walker & Love Fellowship Choir is the latest in a series of collaborative performances that, as previously reported, will also include U2 and Mary J. Blige; Faith Hill and Keith Urban; Jamie Foxx and Kanye West; and Christina Aguilera and Herbie Hancock.
Organizers have also unveiled plans for an all-star tribute to legendary funk band Sly & the Family Stone that will feature Maroon 5 , Will.I.Am of The Black Eyed Peas, John Legend, Steven Tyler and Joe Perry of Aerosmith, Joss Stone, Robert Randolph and Devin Lima.
Carey, Legend and West lead this year's pack of nominees with eight nominations apiece.
Springsteen, who over the years has racked up a dozen Grammy wins, is in contention for five more trophies this year, including Song of the Year, Best Solo Rock Vocal Performance, Best Rock Song and Best Long Form Music Video, all for the title track from 2004's "Devils & Dust"; and Best Contemporary Folk Album for "Devils & Dust."
Coldplay, which has laid claim to four Grammys in recent years, is vying this year for Best Rock Song and Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals ("Speed of Sound"), and Best Rock Album ("X&Y").
Grammy-winning rock outfit Maroon 5 is up for Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal (live version of "This Love"), while fellow Grammy-winners The Black Eyed Peas have a trio of nominations: Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal ("Don't Lie"), Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group ("Don't Phunk with My Heart") and Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals ("Gone Going" with Jack Johnson).
Previously announced presenters include Big & Rich, Tom Hanks and Terrence Howard. Additional performers and presenters will be announced shortly, according to organizers.
The 48th Annual Grammy Awards ceremony takes place Feb. 8 at Los Angeles' Staples Center, and will air live on CBS-TV. In addition to televised coverage, the show will also be supported on radio via the Westwood One radio network, and covered online at Yahoo!'s Grammy Awards website.
