Madonna
"Confessions on a Dance Floor"
(Warner Bros.)
Madonna laces up her boogie shoes and struts back into the club on this new collection of what the artist describes as "unapologetic dance music."
The diva mixes both old-school disco influences (a la Giorgio Moroder and Abba) and modern club beats on this set of 12 new songs. In a statement on her website, Madonna said that she wants "people to jump out of their seats" upon hearing the new material.
The first single and video from the album is "Hung Up," which was released to radio in mid-October.
Wilco
"Kicking Television: Live in Chicago"
(Nonesuch)
Wilco, a heavily bootlegged band that has long been known for delivering blistering live performances, will finally release its first officially sanctioned full-length concert set.
The 2-disc package features vocalist/guitarist Jeff Tweedy and his crew performing 23 fan favorites, including "Shot in the Arm," "I Am Trying to Break Your Heart" and "Heavy Metal Drummer." The recording was taped this past May at the Vic Theatre in Chicago.
Bright Eyes
"Motion Sickness: Live Recordings"
(Team Love/Saddle Creek)
Conor Oberst, the acclaimed singer/songwriter who is better known as Bright Eyes, is set to release his third full-length record in less than 10 months.
"Motion Sickness" documents the indie performer's recent tour in support of "Digital Ash in a Digital Urn" and "I'm Wide Awake It's Morning," two CDs that were released simultaneously on Jan. 25. The 15-track compilation includes a cover of a Feist song ("Mushaboom") and an Elliott Smith tune ("The Biggest Lie"). The set comes with a 24-page booklet that features an extensive tour diary written by Jason Boesel (Bright Eyes live band, Rilo Kiley).
Jimmy Buffett
