Primus , which filled slots on the bills of Ozzfest and the Family Values Tour earlier this year, has embarked on a headlining tour to support their album "Anti-Pop" (Interscope). The band's current outing opened last week in Cleveland, and will conclude with a Nov. 30 show in Las Vegas.
Supporting the progressive funk-metal outfit are rockers Incubus --who recently released the album ''Make Yourself'' (Epic)--and Buckethead , an otherwise anonymous act who plays the guitar with a KFC bucket covering his noggin.
Primus, which hails from the San Francisco Bay area, is also scheduled to take the stage at Oakland's Henry J. Kaiser Center on New Year's Eve with the same supporting acts and as-yet unannounced special guests.
''Anti-Pop'' debuted on the Billboard 200 album two weeks ago at No. 44, and fell to No. 85 in its second week of release. The album features appearances by a long list of famous guests, including James Hetfield and Kirk Hammett of Metallica, Tom Waits , Limp Bizkit frontman Fred Durst and Tom Morello of Rage Against The Machine.
