OK Go sets new tour leg to back sophomore release
Alt-popsters OK Go have added a second North American leg to their current tour as they continue to support their recently released album, "Oh No."
After completing its current stretch of shows in the United Kingdom, the Chicago-based band will return to the U.S. to begin a run of 16 dates in just over three weeks, starting with an Oct. 25 appearance in Philadelphia. Full details on the band's European itinerary are available at OK Go's
The band's current schedule calls for it to share venues with singer/songwriter Rufus Wainwright for several appearances, including shows in New York and Washington, DC.
"Oh No," which was released Aug. 30, is OK Go's second studio release, and the follow-up to its 2002 self-titled breakout album. The new disc was recorded in Malmo, Sweden, with Franz Ferdinand producer Tore Johansson behind the boards.
According to OK Go's website, Johansson informed the band right off the bat that its new album was going to be about getting back to the basics. "You will go into a room together and you will rock," Johansson told them.
"We wanted to make an album that sounds like our band, and not a heady, self-conscious studio project," lead singer Damian Kulash said on the website. "Everyone tells us rock and roll is a shadow of itself--a sad old milk cow smiling at the farmer every morning. We still see a bucking bull smashing around the stable."
