An attorney representing Guns N' Roses vocalist Axl Rose has issued a response to a lawsuit filed against the rocker by former bandmates Slash and Duff McKagen, who allege that Rose unilaterally declared himself administrator of the band's copyrights, and is keeping their share of the revenue.

"This is a classic case of premature accusation," said a statement issued by Howard Weitzman, Rose's attorney. "If someone had taken the time to investigate or ask about this situation before rushing to judgment they would have learned that ASCAP (the entity that collects money for songwriters) made a clerical error and failed to appropriately divide and distribute the royalties owed for the first quarter of 2005 to Axl and the former Guns N' Roses musicians.

"The amount ASCAP mistakenly sent to Axl's publisher was never received by Axl nor was he ever made aware of the error. The publisher alerted ASCAP to the error, returned the money immediately and asked ASCAP to remedy the situation by distributing the funds appropriately."

Rap mogul Marion "Suge" Knight was shot in the leg Saturday (8/27) during a Miami party hosted by rapper Kanye West in advance of the MTV Video Music Awards.

The Miami Herald reports that the gunman was a black man who wore a pink shirt, but that potential witnesses at the party, which attracted a crowd of hundreds, denied seeing anything.

"We don't have any physical description," an investigator told the newspaper. ''We don't know how many subjects were involved, which is mind boggling, with all those people around."

According to news reports, Knight remained hospitalized in good condition Monday (8/29), and was scheduled to undergo surgery on the leg.
