Finnish rock band HIM--a group that's already an established overseas hit-maker but is still gunning for U.S. domination--plays a series of club and theater dates this fall to promote its forthcoming album.
HIM has had five chart-topping albums throughout the world, according to a press release, and will drop "Dark Lights" Sept. 27 in the United States. The first single, "Rip Out the Wings of a Butterfly," is already being played on rock radio.
Led by singer Ville Valo, HIM received an unexpected promotional pitch by MTV's "Viva La Bam" star Bam Margera, who in July traveled to the Ruisrock festival--one of the longest-running festivals in Scandinavia-- in Turku, Finland, to see the band. He filmed segments with HIM for his television show.
Also comprised of guitarist Linde, bassist Mige, drummer Gas and keyboardist Burton, HIM released its debut EP, "666 Ways to Love," in 1996. A year later, the group sent to stores its first full-length album "Greatest Love Songs, Vol. 666," featuring a cover of Chris Isaak's "Wicked Game." The following records, "Razorblade Romance" (2000) and "Deep Shadows and Brilliant Highlights" (2001), were bestsellers across Europe and prompted an extensive round of touring.
HIM's latest album, 2003's "Love Metal" is its best-seller to date, and features the singles "Soul On Fire," "Sweet Pandemonium" and "Circle of Fear."
