Rock singer Bo Bice reportedly underwent emergency surgery Friday (8/19) in Las Vegas for an intestinal problem, and the American Idols Live tour will probably finish the balance of its run without him.
Bice didn't appear at the tour's Aug. 18 stop in Las Vegas due to illness, and so far has also missed shows in San Jose and Sacramento, CA. The tour is scheduled to resume Tuesday night (8/23) in Everett, WA.
According to published reports, Bice's surgery cleared an intestinal blockage, and he has returned home to rest for at least six weeks, which means he will miss the remaining dates on the Idols Live trek.
The only official word from Bice's camp was posted on his band Sugar Money's website.
"Thanks to some incredibly kind prayers and words of support from family, friends and fans, Bo's surgery was a success," the statement said. "After the successful surgery it is critical that Bo rests. For how long is yet to be officially determined."
Earlier this month, Bice broke his foot while performing during the American Idols Live tour's stop in Manchester, NH. He completed his performance, and didn't miss any shows due to that injury.
Bice was this year's runner-up on the Fox-TV talent competition "American Idol."
