The U.S. leg of the Anger Management 3 tour, which wrapped up in Detroit last weekend, apparently took a toll on headliner Eminem , who has scrapped his plans for the tour's European leg.
"Eminem ... will be canceling his European tour dates, which run from September 1st through 17th," Interscope Records announced in a statement issued Tuesday (8/16) night. "Eminem is currently being treated for exhaustion, complicated by other medical issues. The shows are not expected to be rescheduled."
No further information about the rapper's condition was released.
The 10-date Euro outing was to end with a Sept. 17 finale at Ireland's Slane Castle, which was reportedly expected to draw a crowd of 80,000. The show's promoter, Lord Henry Mountcharles, told Ireland Online that he was "stunned" by the rapper's cancellation on such short notice, and that he was displeased to learn of the cancellation via Interscope's public statement rather than by direct contact from Eminem's camp.
"In all the years that Slane has been running we've never been confronted by a scenario like this," Mountcharles said. "I don't think the Rolling Stones or U2 would cancel a section owing to nervous exhaustion. I'm very taken aback. I'm trying to be judicious with my words. I'm not very happy about what has happened."
At press time, a spokesperson for Anger Management 3 co-headliner 50 Cent--who is now tackling a stretch of his own U.S. shows--had not responded to a request for clarification on whether 50 and his G-Unit crew would forge ahead with the European dates sans Eminem.
Last month, Eminem made headlines when his hometown newspaper the Detroit Free Press claimed that he was considering ending his solo career. The rapper subsequently denied the report, but said that he was planning to take a break in order to produce other artists.
