Longtime road-warriors The Allman Brothers Band will resume their summer jaunt Aug. 12 in Minnesota, and are now scheduled to be on the road through early October.
Jam band moe. will open for the Allmans through mid-August, with Southside Johnny & The Asbury Jukes and .38 Special taking over the support slot toward the end of the month. September's Allman Brothers itinerary includes several co-headlining shows with fellow Southern-rock icons Lynyrd Skynyrd , as well as select dates with Lucinda Williams and/or Antigone Rising. Details are in the itinerary below.
The Allman Brothers Band's current lineup features Gregg Allman (vocals and keyboards), Butch Trucks (drums and tympani), Jaimoe (drums), Warren Haynes (vocals, lead and slide guitar), Derek Trucks (slide and lead guitar), Oteil Burbridge (bass) and Marc Quinones (congas and percussion). Longtime guitarist Dickey Betts parted ways with the group in 2000, citing "creative differences."
The Allman Brothers Band released its self-titled debut album in 1969; 2003's "Hittin' the Note" marked the group's first new studio album in nine years.
Despite sporadic recorded output in recent years, the band has been a fixture on the summer amphitheater circuit, and also plays a lengthy run of shows at New York's Beacon Theater each spring.
