Barry Manilow extends Las Vegas residency
Barry Manilow , who late last year signed on to play five shows per week at the Las Vegas Hilton during several 2005/2006 stints, has inked a new deal that spills into 2007.
With 50 performances of his Vegas production--dubbed "Manilow: Music and Passion"--already completed, Manilow has agreed to play another 150 shows at the Last Vegas Hilton Theater. Tickets for the newly added dates, which range in price from $85 to $225, will hit the box office on Aug. 13, according to the Las Vegas Hilton. More information is available at the venue's website.
"Manilow: Music and Passion" features Manilow backed by a 14-person cast and band. The production changes each night, according to a press release.
"I've always avoided a 'fixed' show that repeated the same thing every night," Manilow said in a statement. "I'm glad that the Las Vegas Hilton and 'Music and Passion' have given us all the chance to surprise the audience every night. And over the next 150 shows, there'll be lots of surprises!"
Manilow launched his residency at the 1,700-seat Hilton Theater in February. During the weeks his show is live, he performs Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays at 9 p.m., and Saturdays at 7:30 and 10 p.m.
Manilow's extension follows Elton John's June announcement that he was extending his Vegas residency into 2008. John's production, dubbed "The Red Piano," takes place at The Colosseum, a Caesar's Palace venue that he shares with Celine Dion, whose own show, "A New Day," is currently scheduled to run through 2007.
