Ruben Studdard , winner of 2004's "American Idol" on Fox-TV, has filed a lawsuit in Birmingham, AL, accusing his former manager of identity theft and forgery.
The suit reportedly claims that Ronald W. Edwards forged paperwork that gave him power of attorney for Studdard, then charged $105,000 to credit cards and wrote checks for $150,000 in Studdard's name. Edwards is also accused of writing $22,000 worth of checks and depositing them into his own account.
Studdard sued Edwards and his marketing company in February, alleging that he misused $246,000, according to published reports.
Edwards denied the earlier allegations, and that suit was stayed earlier this month when he filed a petition for Chapter 7 bankruptcy.
