Kenny Chesney pushes tour into late summer

Kenny Chesney , who last month launched his "Somewhere in the Sun Tour" with show-openers Gretchen Wilson and Uncle Kracker in tow, has added a slew of dates to the run.

The country singer's island-themed outing now stretches through the end of August. Details are included below.

Members of Chesney's official fan club will have a shot at tickets before the general public; more information is available at Chesney's website.

Originally due to launch in early March, Chesney's tour got off to a late start after the singer suffered an ankle injury, which pushed the kick-off back until a March 23-24 stand in Green Bay, WI. The singer underwent physical therapy during the delay, and has been wearing a "therapeutic boot" during his shows, according to a press release.

Currently on a scheduled break from the tour, Chesney is due to perform at Monday's (4/11) CMT Music Awards. The singer is nominated in five categories, including Video of the Year for "I Go Back," from his 2004 album, "When the Sun Goes Down."

Chesney's latest album, "Be As You Are: Songs from an Old Blue Chair," hit stores in January and debuted at No. 1 on The Billboard 200 album chart.
