Elton John postpones four U.S. shows, citing illness

Elton John , who called off two planned shows over the weekend due to an undisclosed illness, has postponed two additional performances scheduled for this week.

The latest postponements are John's Tuesday (3/8) gig in Richmond, VA, and his Wednesday (3/9) show in Winston-Salem, NC. Shows were called off over the weekend in New Orleans and Bossier City, LA.

According to John's official website, the singer's camp is attempting to reschedule all postponed dates. "Ticket buyers who bought from Ticketmaster or elsewhere and who do not want to keep the tickets for the rescheduled concerts should go to their point of purchase for a refund," said a statement posted on the site.

Details of John's illness weren't released; a throat infection caused him to cancel some U.K. shows in December.

John, who plans to play an extensive combination of U.S. arena shows and Las Vegas gigs this year, is scheduled to resume his tour Friday (3/11) in Columbus, OH. He is supporting "Peachtree Road," the 43rd album of his three-decade-plus career. The set hit stores last November, and debuted at No. 17 on The Billboard 200 album chart.
