Retooled Black Crowes line up full-blown tour

The Black Crowes , who were already set to play a string of sold-out New York City reunion shows and a pair of festival dates this year, have expanded their itinerary to include a run of theater dates in the South and Northeast.

The spring jaunt will visit about 20 cities in April and May, and plans are in the works for another round of shows this summer, according to the band's publicist.

The Crowes, led by brothers Chris and Rich Robinson, have not performed live since Halloween of 2001. Soon after, the band announced that it was going on an indefinite hiatus while the brothers pursued separate solo endeavors.

Chris Robinson (vocals) and Rich Robinson (guitars) are the only original Black Crowes members who remain with the band. They'll be backed on the tour by guitarist Marc Ford (who was fired from the band in 1997) and keyboardist Eddie Hawysch (aka Eddi Harsch), both of whom joined the group after its debut album and tour in 1990; bassist Sven Pipien, who departed the group in 2000; and drummer Bill Dobrow--Rich Robinson's bandmate in Hookah Brown--who takes over for Steve Gorman.

The Black Crowes' most recent studio album is 2001's "Lions." The concert set "Live" followed in 2002.

The Atlanta-based group burst onto the scene with its 1990 debut, "Shake Your Money Maker," which spawned the hits "Hard to Handle" (originally recorded by Otis Redding), "Jealous Again" and "She Talks to Angels."
