
Jamie Foxx , who portrayed the late Ray Charles in the biopic "Ray," was named best actor at the 77th Annual Academy Awards, which took place Sunday night (2/27) in Los Angeles.
"Ray" won two Oscars on the night, also taking home a statue for sound mixing. The film also was nominated for best picture, but lost out in the category to "Million Dollar Baby."
In another major music category, Jan A.P. Kaczmarek took best original score for his work on "Finding Neverland." It beat competition from "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban," "Limony Snicket's a Series of Unfortunate Events," "The Passion of the Christ" and "The Village."
"Al Otro Lado Del Rio” from "The Motorcycle Diaries"--which Antonio Banderas and Carlos Santana performed during the ceremony's telecast by --took the Oscar for best original song. It topped Counting Crows ' "Accidentally in Love" from "Shrek 2"; Glen Ballard and Alan Silvestri's "Believe" from "The Polar Express"; Andrew Lloyd Webber and Charles Hart's "Learn to be Lonely" from "The Phantom of the Opera"; and Bruno Coulais and Christophe Barratier's "Look To Your Path (Vois Sur Ton Chemin)" from "The Chorus."
