Sevendust hits the road with new guitarist

Metal quintet Sevendust mounts a 20-city tour this spring with new guitarist Sonny Mayo in tow.

The outing kicks off April 6 in Tampa, FL, and eight dates are confirmed so far; more dates will be announced soon. Details are shown below.

The run marks the debut of the group's new lineup, which now features original members Lajon Witherspoon (vocals), Morgan Rose (drums), Vince Hornsby (bass) and John Connolly (guitar), along with new axe-slinger Mayo--formerly of Snot/Amen--who takes over for departed co-founder Clint Lowery.

Lowery jumped ship in December due to "personal issues," according to an announcement issued at the time.

Sevendust's most recent album is last year's "Southside Double-Wide Acoustic Live." The group recorded the unplugged set during its Sept. 12, 2003 performance in Athens, GA.

The acoustic collection is the follow-up to Sevendust's most recent studio effort, last year's "Seasons." Work on a new album is underway, though no release date has been announced.
