Mariah Carey is expected to remain in the hospital for "several days" to recover from dehydration and other complications from food poisoning, according to a statement issued by the singer's publicist. Carey has postponed tonight's scheduled appearance at the FleetCenter in Boston as a result, and has rescheduled the show for April 13.
According to the statement, Carey was admitted to Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston on Monday night (4/3). She is said to have contracted food poisoning by eating raw oysters in Atlanta on Saturday (4/1), prior to a sold-out show. Though ill, Carey did perform that night.
"My manager didn't want me to tell you guys this,'' she reportedly told the Atlanta crowd, ''but I have food poisoning and am completely dehydrated but we're going to have a good time tonight, even if it kills me. So if I pass out, I hope someone will call 911 for me.''
Following the concert, she flew to Boston and her condition worsened.
The next scheduled stop on Carey's ''Rainbow'' world tour is Toronto on Friday (4/7).
