Briefly: New Orleans Jazz Fest, Michael Jackson, Cake, Gomez

The 36th annual New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival will sport a lineup that includes dozens of high-profile acts, including Dave Matthews Band , James Taylor , Nelly, B.B. King, Juanes, The Neville Brothers, Trey Anastasio, Isaac Hayes, Widespread Panic, Jack Johnson, Elvis Costello, The Roots, Steve Winwood, Wilco and Randy Newman.

Tickets for the event, which runs April 22-May 1 at various New Orleans venues, went on sale Monday (1/31). More information, including a complete lineup and schedule, is available at Jazz Fest's website.

The jury-selection process began Monday (1/31) in the child-molestation trial of Michael Jackson .

A group of supporters awaited Jackson as he and his lawyers entered the Santa Maria, CA, courthouse to face prospective jurors. About 300 prospective jurors were expected to be processed Monday, and a total of 450 more will be screened on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The process of narrowing the pool down to 12 jurors and eight alternates could take more than a month, according to press reports.

Sacramento alt-rockers Cake and British blues-rockers Gomez are set to appear on the second annual Virgin College Mega Tour, which gets underway in early April.

The 20-city tour will visit college markets, and will feature "a daytime village on campuses that will include an emerging artist stage, karaoke booth, contest giveaways and the latest games, new product demonstrations and gadgets for the college market," according to a press release.

The itinerary and ticket on-sale information hadn't been announced at press time.
