MTV break-out act The Killers have paired up with New York mood rockers Ambulance LTD for a joint club run this fall.
Both acts have drawn solid reviews for their respective 2004 releases, loosely categorized as retro-influenced rock. In the case of The Killers' dance-focused material, they proudly hoist the glam torch, citing influences from Ziggy Stardust-era David Bowie to The Smiths to U2.
Ambulance LTD has been championed more at college radio than on MTV, drawing comparisons to The Beatles, Stone Roses and psychedelic-era Rolling Stones.
The Killers' spring release, "Hot Fuss," has earned them a place among the 2004 Shortlist Music Prize nominees, placing them in competition with Wilco, Air, Loretta Lynn and Franz Ferdinand, among others. The band's MTV and radio hit, "Somebody Told Me," has generated enough momentum to keep them on the road for most of the year.
The Killers and Ambulance LTD continue their in-progress joint touruntil mid-October, when they part ways after a performance at theVoodoo Music Festival in New Orleans. The Killers then continue on their own into late November.
