Briefly: Korn, 'NFL Opening Kickoff,' Eric Clapton, John Mayer
Immortal/Epic Records has set an Oct. 19 release date for Korn 's "Greatest Hits Vol. 1," which collects 16 previously released tracks, two cover songs and a remix.
The album's first single is a cover of Cameo's 1986 single "Word Up!" It also features a cover of Pink Floyd's "Another Brick in the Wall, Parts 1, 2, 3," and a Dante Ross remix of "Freak on a Leash."
Destiny's Child , Mary J. Blige , Elton John and Lenny Kravitz are scheduled to perform during "NFL Opening Kickoff, a Sept. 9 pre-game show at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, MA, to salute the Super Bowl Champion New England Patriots.
Jessica Simpson will also perform from Metropolitan Park in Jacksonville, FL, where next year's Super Bowl will take place.
The hour-long production will air prior to the Patriots' opening-day game against the Indianapolis Colts.
Eric Clapton was inducted into Hollywood's RockWalk this morning (8/9) in Los Angeles. Clapton received a commemorative plaque and had his hands and signature imprinted in terrazzo marble during the private ceremony.
RockWalk and the RockWalk Museum were established in 1989 to honor artists who made significant contributions to music. More information is available at RockWalk's website.
Four concerts from John Mayer's current tour, each edited down to 10 songs by the artist, will be issued this month via Apple's iTunes Music Store.
The first of the series--collectively titled "As Is"--will be available on Tuesday (8/10), and a new show will be available each Tuesday through Aug. 31.
