Wilco has expanded its upcoming tour plans to include a new series of shows that will touch down in Missouri, Texas, Massachusetts and New York.
The newly announced September and October dates--for which ticket on-sale information wasn't immediately available--will follow the group's early-August run, which visits six North American cities. Details are in the itinerary below.
Initially, Wilco planned to play a few summer Lollapalooza shows, but the cancellation of that tour led the Chicago-based group to make other plans. The band is backing its latest album, "A Ghost is Born," which hit stores in June.
Fans who purchase "A Ghost is Born" can--using the CD's enhanced content--access via the band's website a live recording of a recent Wilco show at Chicago's Vic Theatre.
Joining Wilco's touring band this year are keyboardist/guitarist Pat Sansone (The Autumn Defense) and guitarist Nels Cline. Earlier this year, the band announced the departure of multi-instrumentalist Leroy Bach, who officially joined the band before the release of 2002's "Yankee Hotel Foxtrot." Programmer/keyboardist Mikael Jorgenson has since taken over Bach's slot.
The only remaining original members of Wilco are frontman/guitarist Jeff Tweedy and bassist John Stirratt. Drummer Glen Kotche replaced Ken Coomer before "Yankee Hotel Foxtrot" was recorded, and multi-instrumentalist Jay Bennett exited after "Yankee Hotel Foxtrot" was completed.
