Slayer fills cracks in Ozzfest schedule with additional shows

Speed-metal veterans Slayer have shoehorned additional live dates into their schedule during days off from this summer's Ozzfest tour.

The additional dates include a mix of festival performances and co-headlining shows with Slipknot or Judas Priest . Details are shown below.

During Ozzfest stops, Slayer is part of a mainstage roster that also includes Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, Superjoint Ritual, Zakk Wylde's Black Label Society and Dimmu Borgir. The run kicked off in Connecticut on Saturday (7/10), and runs through early September.

On Sept. 28, Slayer issues "Reign in Blood Live: Still Reigning," a concert DVD that captures the group's Sunday (7/11) performance in Augusta, ME. The disc will feature the group--singer/bassist Tom Araya, guitarists Kerry King and Jeff Hanneman, and drummer Dave Lombardo--performing in its entirety "Reign In Blood," the 1986 album that put the band on the map.

"'Reign in Blood' is our signature record, and if people think that it helped set the path for that genre of music, that's great," Araya said in a statement. "It's a record that means a lot to all of us in the band--it was our first record for a major label, and our first record with [producer] Rick Rubin, who gave it unconditional support."

The DVD--which will also include behind-the-scenes footage and interviews filmed on Sunday (7/11)--is expected to clock in at about 75 minutes, and will cost $14.98, according to the group's publicist.
