Michael W. Smith, MercyMe lead One Nation Tour

Popular Christian-pop acts Michael W. Smith and MercyMe top the bill of this summer's One Nation Tour, which will visit major amphitheaters, parks and fairs in July and August.

The 30-plus city outing--which features the David Crowder Band in the opening slot--is the second teaming of Smith and MercyMe, who joined forces for 2003's Celebration Tour. That trek marked Smith's 20th anniversary as a performer.

"It's going to be great to be on the road again with the guys in MercyMe and David Crowder," Smith said in a statement. "My hope is that every night of this tour everyone, myself included, will be challenged in a new way. It's going to be great evening of music and worship."

Smith has won 27 Dove Awards and two Grammys over the course of his career. His latest album of new material is 2002's "Worship Again," which he followed in 2003 with the compilation set "The Second Decade 1993-2003."

MercyMe is touring behind its recent release, "Undone." The group scored a crossover hit in 2002 with the cut "I Can Only Imagine," found on the 2001 album "Almost There."
