Briefly: Willie Nelson, Jessica Simpson, Johnny Cash, Johnny Winter

Contrary to a recent statement issued by a concert promoter, Willie Nelson won't be undergoing surgery for carpal tunnel syndrome; he is instead resting in an effort to avoid surgery.

According to Lost Highway Records, a doctor determined earlier this month that Nelson suffers from significant carpal tunnel syndrome, aggravated by continuous guitar playing. He first was treated with medication, and doctors then recommended rest, splinting and medication.

As previously reported, Nelson has called off all of his May and June performances. According to Lost Highway, ticket holders will be advised about rescheduled dates.

Jessica Simpson and her sister Ashlee will star in commercials for the new Hershey's breath mints Ice Breakers Liquid Ice, according to a press release.

The new ads play on an infamous moment on the MTV reality series "Newlyweds: Nick & Jessica," when Simpson debated whether Chicken of the Sea was chicken or tuna. Simpson's conundrum in the television ad is whether or not the mint is liquid or ice.
