Keith Urban pumps up summer tour schedule

Country singer Keith Urban , who soon wraps up an opening stint with Kenny Chesney, has filled his summer calendar with plans for an ambitious tour.

After finishing up his tour of duty with Chesney on May 22, Urban goes it alone beginning with a May 29 performance in Montgomery, AL. The singer/guitarist's packed schedule, which currently runs into late August, comprises a mix of festivals, fairs and headlining performances.

Urban is riding the success of his sophomore album, "Golden Road," which surfaced last year. The platinum-certified set has been riding The Billboard 200 album chart for 83 weeks, and currently sits at No. 3. Included on the album is Urban's hit single "You'll Think of Me," which recently topped the Hot Country Singles & Tracks chart; the song has held a slot on that chart for 25 weeks.

"You'll Think of Me" is Urban's fourth No. 1 single, and marks his seventh-consecutive Top 5 single in the U.S., according to his website. The Australian native "now joins Air Supply as one of the only two Australian acts in history to have achieved seven consecutive Top 5 singles in the U.S.," reads a message posted at the site.

Urban self-produced half of "Golden Road," and co-produced the other half.

"I'm a little more comfortable in [the producer's] role," he said during an interview with liveDaily last year. "I love being in the studio. It's something I've always loved doing. I'm not one of the artists who comes in and just does my bit. I'm there every second of every day."
