Two more concert dates have been added to the Dave Matthews Band 's summer schedule, but the group has scrapped plans to host a festival this year.
The newly announced shows will take place on July 2 and 3 at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center in Saratoga Springs, NY, according to an announcement sent to the band's mailing list.
In the same announcement, the band reveals that it will not stage an Independence Day-weekend festival in the New York City area.
"We have been putting a great deal of time and effort over the past few months into trying to make the festival happen but due to logistical issues, it simply cannot happen this year," the announcement said. "We assure you that we will continue to look for suitable opportunities and locations for DMB festivals in the future."
Late last year, the group asked fans to provide their views about a possible Dave Matthews Band festival by filling out a survey that was posted on its official website. Among the questions the survey asked were whether fans would be interested in attending such a festival, and the time and location they'd most like it to take place. The survey identified the July 4 weekend in New York as the best time and place for the event.
Dave Matthews Band signed a new contract with longtime label RCA Records earlier this year, and has begun work on a new studio album. No release date has been announced.
The group opens its summer tour in mid-June, and will remain on the amphitheater circuit through early September.
