Kansas City-based emo-rockers The Get Up Kids are the latest addition to this year's Honda-sponsored Civic Tour, taking a spot on a bill that will also feature previously announced acts Dashboard Confessional and Thrice .
The Get Up Kids are backing their fourth album, "Guilt Show," which hit stores in March. The album track "Martyr Me" is streaming at the Vagrant Records website.
The Get Up Kids' labelmates Dashboard Confessional, led by group anchorman Chris Carrabba, heads up the Civic Tour bill. The group is supporting its third full-length studio album, last August's "A Mark, a Mission, a Brand, a Scar." Carrabba wrote the set's 13 tracks, while Gil Norton (Pixies, Belly, Foo Fighters) produced.
California quartet Thrice is supporting its Island Records debut, "The Artist in the Ambulance," which surfaced in August.
During the tour--which kicks off on May 13 in Portland, ME, and runs through June--American Honda Motor Co. will be showcasing a customized and autographed Honda Civic that was designed by Dashboard Confessional. Ten customized Civics will be awarded through national and local sweepstakes as part of the tour; details will be posted at the tour's website, according to a press release.
