Briefly: Mike Watt, Ryan Adams, 'Reality Bites,' Chumbawamba

Mike Watt drops a new album titled "The Secondman's Middle Stand"-- a set he recorded and mixed in January and February--on May 11.

Watt, who was a founding member of Southern California punk rockers Minutemen, has described the new album as his "illness piece," documenting his bout with a painful intestinal abscess a few years back. Watt posted diary entries about the illness on his official website.

The new album, which was recorded in Watt's hometown of San Pedro, features Watt on bass and vocals, Pete Mazich on B3 organ and backup vocals and Jerry Trebotic on drums. Petra Haden contributes back-up vocals.

Chumbawamba will release its 13th full-length album, titled "Un," on June 8, according to Koch Records. Among the new tracks is "On Ebay," which, according to a press release, "was written after Coalition forces stood idly by while watching the looting of the Baghdad museum."
