The Goo Goo Dolls will follow up the just-launched MP3.com Music and Technology Tour with a series of overseas Christmas shows at U.S. military installations. The December military tour will include performances on the aircraft carrier USS John F. Kennedy and at Tuzla Army Base in Bosnia.
''We've done shows for military personnel here in the States and they're always a great audience,'' singer/guitarist Johnny Rzeznik said in a press release. ''This tour is especially important to us because we'll be performing for sailors, soldiers, airmen and women who can't be home for the holidays.''
''The Christmas Tour'' will also take the band to military bases in Spain, Italy and Germany. Military planes, helicopters, buses and jeeps will shuttle the band to its various stops.
Before the European trek, the band will headline MP3.com's first Music and Technology Tour, which will continue through mid-November. The tour -- which also features Tonic -- will visit about 25 college campuses by mid-November.
In other Goos news, the group will perform at GQ's Fourth Annual Men of the Year Awards on October 21st in New York City.
The band's sixth album, ''Dizzy Up The Girl,'' remains in the top 50 on the Billboard Top 200 album chart a year after its release, and has sold almost 2.5 million copies.
