Neil Young 's "Greendale" tour is traveling with a fleet of buses and trucks that run on biodiesel, a fuel made from renewable resources, according to a press release.
The environmentally friendly move--biodiesel burns cleaner than diesel, and supporters say it can be used in any diesel engine with few or no modifications--will be a permanent one, Young said in a statement. "I plan to continue to use this government approved and regulated fuel exclusively from now on to prove that it is possible to deliver the goods anywhere in North America without using foreign oil, while being environmentally responsible."
R.E.M. is back in the studio, working on songs for a new album that is expected to hit stores this fall, according to a newsletter sent to the band's email list. The as-yet-untitled album will be followed by a fall tour of the U.S. and a world tour in early 2005.
Country star Clint Black made in-store appearances at Wal-Marts in nine cities in recent days, and is scheduled to appear at many other stores.
Black's upcoming Wal-Mart stops include Kansas City, MO, and Oklahoma City (3/4); Austin and Houston, TX (3/5); Pittsburgh (3/6); Philadelphia (3/11); Washington, DC (3/12); Baltimore (3/13); Atlanta (3/15); and Chattanooga and Knoxville, TN (3/17).
He also has several media appearances planned: "Good Morning America (3/9); "The View" and "Deborah Norville Tonight" (3/10); "Fox and Friends" (3/11); and ESPN’s "Cold Pizza" (3/12).
Black is hyping the release of his latest album, "Spend My Time."
About 280,000 copies of Norah Jones ' sophomore album, "Feels Like Home," sold in the last week, enough to ensure the album its third straight week atop The Billboard 200 album chart, according to industry sources.
Kanye West holds steady at No. 2 with his debut, "The College Dropout," while fellow hip-hop newcomers Young Gunz enter the chart at No. 3 with "Tough Love," their first album.
Evanescence's "Fallen" slips one spot to No. 5, and country singer Kenny Chesney's "When the Sun Goes Down" stays put at No. 5.
Tim McGraw will join other cast members of the film "Friday Night Lights"--including Billy Bob Thornton--at an April 10 benefit concert for Gridiron Heroes, a nonprofit organization for high school football players who have suffered spinal cord injuries.
