In a statement, Manilow said the incident was brought on by legal wrangling. He and co-writer Bruce Sussman reportedly were in New York last week, trying to win back the rights to their musical "Harmony," which producers scrapped last year.

"It literally broke my heart to sit for two days and watch these beautiful people of the creative team testify because of the incompetence of this man who brought down our show. My heart was broken, but the doctors put it back together and I will continue to fight."

Godfather of Soul James Brown [ tickets ] has filed papers to annul his marriage to his 33-year-old wife, claiming that she is still legally married to another man, according to the Augusta Chronicle.

Brown was arrested on domestic violence charges last week for allegedly throwing his third wife, Tommie Rae, to the floor during a dispute in their South Carolina home. She was hospitalized briefly in Augusta, GA, for scratches and bruises.

Arista Records founder Clive Davis [ tickets ], who was ousted from his position as head of that label in 2000, has been named Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of BMG North America, Arista's parent company.

According to a press release, the newly formed BMG North America will combine all operations of the BMG owned record labels, including Arista, J, RCA, and Jive. Davis will also oversee BMG Distribution, BMG Strategic Marketing, and BMG Canada.

Davis' group doesn't include BMG Nashville or BMG Classics labels.

A DVD titled "Live in Detroit," which documents a recent Iggy and The Stooges reunion performance and also features footage from a New York in-store performance, is scheduled for release on March 23. The Detroit show marked the band's first hometown gig in nearly three decades.
