Simon & Garfunkel will donate $1 million to The Children's Health Fund, a group that Paul Simon co-founded in 1987 to provide medical assistance to homeless children in New York.
According to an Associated Press report, half of the money will benefit CHF's national network for poor and homeless children and the other half will go to a CHF-run pediatric program at Columbia University.
The video for "September When It Comes," a duet by Rosanne Cash and her father, Johnny Cash , is currently streaming at Rosanne's website. The clip, recorded during November's Johnny Cash Memorial Tribute concert in Nashville, will debut on the CMT cable network on Dec. 24, according to Capitol Records.
A judge has given hip-hop magazine The Source permission to distribute CDs that contain up to 20 seconds of excerpts from two controversial, early Eminem tracks, according to published reports.
The magazine reportedly plans to include the excerpts--which include racially insensitive remarks about African-Americans, for which the rapper has apologized--in its next issue.
The Recording Academy will present Van Cliburn, The Funk Brothers, Ella Jenkins, Sonny Rollins, Artie Shaw and Doc Watson with Lifetime Achievement Awards during the 46th annual GRAMMY® Awards, which take place on Feb. 5.
Producer Orrin Keepnews, songwriting team Gerry Goffin and Carole King, and pianist/radio personality Marian McPartland will receive Trustees Awards.
