Cyndi Lauper ushers in 2004 with a New Year's Eve performance in Times Square, and embarks on a new round of headlining dates a few weeks later.
Lauper will perform three songs from her recently released covers album, "At Last," during the annual New Year's Eve festivities in New York City's Times Square. The singer is slated to begin her performance at 11:15 p.m., and will sing the album's title track, followed by "Until You Come Back to Me" and "Stay"; lyrics for the latter two songs will appear on giant video screens, and the crowd will be invited to sing along, according to organizers.
More information is posted at the event's website.
Lauper then takes a break during January before launching a new string of tour dates in mid-February. So far, dates are set through the end of that month, and focus on the eastern U.S.
Released in November, "At Last" features Lauper's renditions of classic hits including The Righteous Brothers' "Unchained Melody," Burt Bacharach and Hal David's "Walk on By," Smokey Robinson's "You Really Got a Hold On Me," and the title track, originally recorded by Etta James.
