Bruce Springsteen, Trisha Yearwood, U2 To Perform At Johnny Cash Tribute Concert

Johnny Cash will be honored in a tribute concert to be held April 6th at New York's Hammerstein Ballroom, featuring Bruce Springsteen , U2 , Lyle Lovett, Cash's daughter Roseanne Cash, Trisha Yearwood , Willie Nelson and other artists yet to be named. The concert is being organized as the second installment of cable channel TNT's "Master Series." The show, to be called "An All-star Tribute To Johnny Cash," will be broadcast later in April.

Cash, who will be 67 in February, was diagnosed in 1997 with Shy Drager Syndrome, a disorder similar to Parkinson's Disease. Near the time of his diagnosis, Cash nearly died from pneumonia, and was hospitalized with a second bout of pneumonia several months later. In 1998, his VH-1 Storytellers performance with Willie Nelson was released, documenting one of his few late 90's concert performances.

Springsteen and U2 have not been active on the performance front since wrapping up their respective Tom Joad and Pop tours. Springsteen, who will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in March, is expected to announce the itinerary for his summer reunion tour with the E Street Band soon.
