Singer Josh Groban embarks on his first solo tour in January, a three-month endeavor that will visit dozens of theaters throughout North America.
The 22-year-old pop star releases his second album, "Closer," on Tuesday (11/11). The set features 13 new songs, including three that Groban penned himself. The first single is "You Raise Me Up."
"I knew I would be touring with this album," Groban said in a statement, "and I want these songs to sound as good on stage as they do in the studio."
Groban made a splash in the music scene with his self-titled 2001 debut, which--on the strength of the single "To Where You Are"--has sold more than five million copies to date, according to Reprise Records.
Groban's career got a huge push internationally when he performed at the closing ceremonies of the Salt Lake City Winter Olympics, a show seen by more than a billion television viewers around the world, according to Reprise.
To promote the release of "Closer," Groban will appear on ABC-TV's "Good Morning America" on Tuesday and on "The View" on Thursday (11/13).
