Nickelback readies new album, plots tour dates

Canadian rock group Nickelback , whose new album arrives in stores on Tuesday (9/23), mounts a fall tour to back the set.

The group's road work is currently scheduled to kick off with a handful of mid-October Texas shows, and additional U.S. dates so far stretch into mid-November. Fellow rockers Trapt and Three Days Grace support.

Titled "The Long Road," Nickelback's new album is the follow-up to its multi-platinum sophomore effort, "Silver Side Up," which spawned the No. 1 rock hits "Too Bad," "Never Again" and "How You Remind Me." The new set features the single "Someday," which is streaming at Roadrunner Records' website.

VH1 marks the release of "The Long Road" with Tuesday's premiere of a Nickelback concert special that the group recorded during its Aug. 26 performance at Seattle's EMP Sky Church Theater. The group is also scheduled to appear on Thursday's episode of "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno."

Roadrunner Records' first pressing of "The Long Road" is a limited-edition "deluxe digipak" that features exclusive band photos and three bonus tracks, including Nickelback's version of Elton John's "Saturday Night's Alright (for Fighting)," according to a press release.
