The Strokes fill in itinerary for October, November

New York rockers The Strokes visit more than a dozen North American cities in October and November to back their sophomore album.

The tour itinerary includes two shows each in New York, Los Angeles and Philadelphia. Tennessee-based rock band Kings of Leon will open on all dates.

An Oct. 21 release date has been set for "Room on Fire," the follow-up to The Strokes' critically acclaimed 2001 debut, "Is This It." Gordon Raphael, who produced "Is This It," was again behind the board for "Room on Fire." The group initially began recording the new album with producer Nigel Godrich (Radiohead), but those sessions were eventually scrapped.

"Room on Fire" contains 11 tracks, including the single "12:51," which already is getting airplay on many alternative-rock radio stations and is available for download at the band's official website. Roman Coppola, who directed videos for the group's previous album, also directed the clip for "12:51."

Many of the songs on "Room on Fire" have been a part of The Strokes' live set for more than a year.
