DMX Slapped With New Charges On The Way To Jail

A judge in Cheektowaga, N.Y., sentenced DMX to 15 days in jail and ordered him to pay $380 in fines and court fees after the rapper turned himself in to police on an outstanding warrant. As he was being processed, authorities found marijuana in a pack of cigarettes that DMX was carrying, which led to a separate $250 fine.

The rapper, whose real name is Earl Simmons, was in court on Wednesday (5/3) to plead guilty to charges of drug possession and driving without a license related to a March 3 traffic stop. (After officers pulled him over for speeding and failure to signal, they found a small amount of marijuana in his car.) DMX failed to appear at a March 23 court hearing, which led to the issuance of an arrest warrant.

DMX remained jailed at press time, but his attorneys were attempting to have the sentence stayed as they pursued an appeal.
