The two-CD Allman Brothers Band set "Live At The Atlanta International Pop Festival--July 3 & 5, 1970" will make its debut on CD on Oct. 21.
Epic/Legacy produced the album--which features the classic Allman Brothers Band lineup of Gregg and Duane Allman, Dickey Betts, Berry Oakley, Butch Trucks, J Johnny Johnson and Thom Doucette--with the full cooperation of the band, according to a press release.
The Atlanta International Pop Festival, which was held several times in the '70s, was one of many multi-act regional concerts that emerged after the success of the Monterey Pop and Woodstock festivals.
Singer-songwriter Howie Day issues "Stop All the World Now," his 11-track sophomore album, on Oct. 7. Youth (The Verve, Dido) produced the set.
Day recorded the album in London with Jay Clifford of Jump Little Children, ex-Verve bassist Simon Jones, Los Angeles guitarist/keyboard player Les Hall and London drummer Laurie Jenkins. A 25-piece orchestra was enlisted for four tracks.
The Trachtenburg Family Slideshow Players issue their debut album, "Vintage Slide Collections from Seattle, Vol. 1", on Sept. 23.
The Trachtenburgs--known for live performances featuring Jason Trachtenburg on keyboards and vocals, wife Tina Piņa Trachtenburg on vintage carousel slide projector and their 9-year-old daughter Rachel Piņa Trachtenburg on drums--will include several interactive features with the disc. Among them: a pull-out picture book containing complete slide shows that correspond with song lyrics, and two tracks--"Mountain Trip to Japan 1959" and "Eggs"--"that can be experienced through modern technology as interactive slide shows in synch with the music," according to a press release.
Billboard.com reports that a new box set comprising upwards of 100 Johnny Cash outtakes recorded over the last decade with producer Rick Rubin is being prepped for a possible Christmas release. The album's tentative title reportedly is "Unearthed."
Bassist Paz Lenchantin, who last year left A Perfect Circle to join Billy Corgan's Zwan , has now left that band and co-founded a new group with fellow Zwan member David Pajo.
"I want to let you know that I am no longer with Zwan," she said in a statement posted on her website. "My experience with Zwan has been great but it is time for me to move on to new projects. This fall I will be dedicating my time with David Pajo as Papa M. I am currently rehearsing for our up coming shows in October. We also hope to start recording shortly after that."
