With the field of finalists down to two on this year's edition of "American Idol," organizers have firmed up the itinerary for the second "American Idols Live " tour.
As it did last year, the tour will feature this season's 10 finalists. The schedule includes more than three-dozen cities in July and August.
A ticket pre-sale is underway; information is available at tour sponsor Pop Tarts' website. Tickets go on sale to the general public beginning on Saturday (5/17).
On Wednesday (5/14), Kimberly Locke of Nashville was eliminated from the "American Idol" competition, leaving Broadway-style singer Clay Aiken of Raleigh, N.C., and soulful crooner Ruben Studdard of Birmingham, Ala., to vie for the top prize.
The winner of the competition--who will be awarded a recording contract--will be announced on the May 21 episode of "American Idol"
The show's eight other finalists were: Joshua Gracin of Oceanside, Calif.; Kimberley Locke of Nashville, Tenn.; Trenyce of Memphis, Tenn.; Carmen Rasmusen of Bountiful, Utah; Kimberly Caldwell of Katy, Texas; Rickey Smith of Keene, Texas; Julia DeMato of Brookfield, Conn., and Charles Grigsby of Oberlin, Ohio.
This year's "American Idol" contestants recently debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 Singles Sales Chart with their cover of Lee Greenwood's "God Bless the U.S.A." Last month, RCA issued "American Idol Season 2: All Time Classic Love Songs," which includes the "God Bless the U.S.A." single.
Winner Kelly Clarkson and the other top-10 finalists from last year's edition of "American Idol" opened a tour of U.S. theaters and arenas last October.
Joining Clarkson for the tour were runners-up Justin Guarini, Nikki McKibbin, Tamayra Gray, RJ Helton, Christina Christian, Ryan Starr, A.J. Gil, E Jay Day and Jim Verraros.
