New Pearl Jam DVD chronicles rare club gig

A new live Pearl Jam DVD that was recorded during a Dec. 6 performance at the Seattle club Showbox is now being sold at the band's concerts and via its website.

Meanwhile, the group has tacked a few more dates onto its summer itinerary, which now concludes with a July 17-18 run in Mexico City.

According to the band's official website, Liz Burns, Steve Gordon and Kevin Shuss--the same group that shot footage for Pearl Jam's first DVD, "Touring Band 2000"--put together the new DVD.

The set list for the Showbox performance was: Small Town, Off He Goes, Thumbing My Way, Thin Air, Breakerfall, Green Disease, Corduroy, Save You, Ghost, Cropduster, I Am Mine, Love Boat Captain, Gods' Dice, 1/2 Full, Daughter/War (by Edwin Starr), You Are, Rearviewmirror, Bushleaguer, Insignificance, Better Man, Do the Evolution, Yellow Ledbetter, Soon Forget, Don't Believe in Christmas (by the Sonics).

The DVD shows the entire concert from beginning to end, but doesn't include any bonus footage.

Pearl Jam is scheduled to open the second leg of its spring-summer North American tour on May 28 in Montana. A handful of dates have been added to the itinerary since it was initially announced. The latest available information is shown in the itinerary below.

Sleater-Kinney, Sparta, Idlewild and the Buzzcocks have been tapped to open various dates on the outing.

Pearl Jam is on the road behind its seventh studio release, "Riot Act." The band produced the LP with Adam Kasper, who engineered R.E.M.'s "New Adventures in Hi-Fi." Frequent Pearl Jam collaborator Brendan O'Brien mixed the finished set, which was released last November.

As it did with its 2000 tour, Pearl Jam is issuing a series of "bootleg" discs recorded during the shows on its 2002 outing. According to Epic Records, Pearl Jam will release an official recording of each show on its world tour. The CDs are initially available only via the Internet, but a few will be released commercially.
