Wilco 's spring and summer tour plans so far include some club dates and festival shows, a handful of appearances with Sonic Youth , and a stint in support of R.E.M.
The critically acclaimed Chicago alt rockers are also scheduled to play three shows with the Minus Five--a Seattle indie band led by Scott McCaughey of the Young Fresh Fellows that also features R.E.M.'s Peter Buck--to promote the recent release of the Minus Five/Wilco collaboration "Down With Wilco."
At press time, Wilco and Sonic Youth were confirmed to co-headline four June dates, and more shows are expected.
In early September, Wilco opens its five-city run in support of R.E.M.
Last year, Wilco issued its much-lauded "Yankee Hotel Foxtrot." Wilco bought back the rights to the album after its former label, Reprise, rejected it. Frontman Jeff Tweedy and his band had little trouble finding a new home at Nonesuch Records, and a number of critics touted the release as one of the 2002's best. The album debuted at No. 13 on the Billboard 200 chart in May.
"I Am Trying to Break Your Heart," a documentary film by Sam Jones about Wilco and the making of "Yankee Hotel Foxtrot," was recently released on DVD.
