"Old Kit Bag," the latest album from Richard Thompson , is set for a May 6 release, and the critically acclaimed singer-songwriter will back it with a U.S. tour.
The London-born artist, who issued "Old Kit Bag" in the U.K. in February, opens his month-long jaunt on April 21 in Boulder, Colo.
According to Thompson's official website, the U.S. version of the album will include bonus tracks that weren't included on the 12-song U.K. edition. Two of the album's tracks are streaming at the Cooking Vinyl website.
"The idea was to keep it small," Thompson said of "Old Kit Bag" in his label biography. "I did do a few overdubs--second guitar, dulcimer, single-finger keyboard parts, all the easy stuff--but other than that, everything was pretty much a live performance."
"Old Kit Bag" is Thompson's 25th album--not including the six he recorded as a member of Fairport Convention--and is his first release since 1999's "Mock Tudor."
