Creed, 'NSync, DMB, others to perform at 2002 Olympics
Next year's Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City will have something to offer not just sports fans, but music fans as well, as 16 popular artists are now slated to perform at the event on various nights. Acts that have been confirmed thus far include Creed , Dave Matthews Band and 'NSync.
Also on the roster are Stone Temple Pilots, Foo Fighters, Barenaked Ladies, Train, Sheryl Crow, Marc Anthony, Martina McBride and Brooks & Dunn, according to an announcement from the Salt Lake Organizing Committee (SLOC).
The remaining five acts will be named next month.
Each of the 16 acts will give a one-hour performance at the Olympic Medals Plaza on each of the event's 16 nights, Feb. 9 through Feb. 24. The plaza can hold 20,000 spectators, according to the SLOC announcement.
Entry into the Olympic Medals Plaza will be free, but a ticket is required. Free tickets will be distributed at Salt Lake City-area Smith's Tix outlets on Jan. 10, 14 and 15 beginning at 7 a.m.
The SLOC announced this fall that the Olympics' closing ceremony on Feb. 24 will feature performances by 'NSync, Christina Aguilera, Bon Jovi, Harry Connick, Jr., and a duet from Josh Groban and Charlotte Church.
